Dorothea Dix and Thomas Edison compares and contrasts two Americans who revolutionized their nation during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Dorothea Dix just wanted to teach, but when she found that people with mental illnesses were routinely placed in jail, she dedicated her life to finding them better places to live. Thomas Edison seemed not to have any interests except reading and causing havoc at home. But he would use these interests to give Americans electric lights, recorded sounds, and much more.
